Do I need a referral to see a specialist endodontist?+
No. Many patients are referred by their general dentist for complex or failed root canal cases, but you can also request an appointment directly.
What is the difference between a specialist endodontist and a general dentist?+
An endodontist completes additional postgraduate specialist training focused solely on the inside of the tooth — the pulp, root canals and surrounding tissues — and works with magnification and techniques designed for difficult cases.
Is root canal treatment painful?+
Treatment is carried out under local anaesthesia. Most patients report that the procedure itself is comfortable and that the pain they arrived with settles afterwards.
Can a failed root canal be saved?+
Often, yes. Retreatment, guided endodontics or endodontic microsurgery can address cases that have not healed. An examination and radiographs are needed to assess the specific tooth.
Are results guaranteed?+
No responsible clinician can guarantee outcomes. Success depends on the condition of the tooth, the surrounding bone, your general health and follow-up restorative care.
How many appointments will I need?+
This depends on the tooth and the diagnosis. The plan and expected number of visits are explained after your examination.
Which languages are consultations available in?+
English, Arabic and French.
What should I bring to my appointment?+
Any recent X-rays or CBCT scans, a referral letter if you have one, a list of your medications and relevant medical history.
